ABOUT

What OrchestraX Project is all about...

In the orchestra as in the work place, music has the power to create community and reinforce shared values. Music embodies knowledge and innovation, individual effort and collective achievement, and offers a work-environment that is full of opportunities for excellence and self-actualization - same as any successful business.

Our mission has always been a commitment to change every member of the audiences' lives through music's extraordinary power to communicate, and thus inspire, uplift, educate and entertain. This mission, we feel, must be one that the orchestral world must embrace. We must always be willing to push boundaries, get rid of the "stuffiness" most associated with orchestras and engage audiences through every means available to us. Whether it is video, movement, colors, social media, short concerts - we must be willing to reach audiences on their terms at times, rather than just presenting music in the traditional way.

Gone are the days of concerts only in Tuxes/Black dresses on a stage with an audience dressed up in seats far from the stage. The Orchestra X Project embraces new ways of presenting concerts. Our new world of audio/visual and movement enhancements continue and expand through performances that are moving, both visually and intellectually. We are committed to presenting the music of living composers at every orchestral concert. The orchestraxproject continues to go TO people. We brush off the "stuffy" "only old people" music persona through evocative, interesting, "out of the box" thinking while focusing on music from living composers as the backbone of our orchestra.  We believe music is for EVERYONE - young and old -- no matter your economic background.

Education of what an orchestra "should do" versus what an orchestra "can do" to all audiences through outreach/ engagement and concerts in new ways. Some ideas continue to be 1) shorter, mixer concerts for young adults 2) placement of the orchestra in new ways within the audience 3) moving of the orchestra within its space 4) use of social media during concerts 5) incorporating all performing artists via interpretation and development of unique presentations. 6) focus on the music of living composers --At OrchestraXProject we ARE what music is and "should be".

The orchestra world has to not only perform traditionally, but also expand it's realm of engagement to allow audiences to "want" and expect the "different" at times to bring another level of intellectual engagement and, dare we say..... entertainment....to all ages and for decades to come.

We are in the midst of an orchestral revolution. Led by our Music Director Maestro Andrew Gekoskie, we are excited to see where artists of all kinds will collaborate and take orchestral music to the next level while also, at times, keeping the traditions of our history - but in a bit of a unique way.
